Cycle Time
A Key Metric for Profitable Business and Happy Customers. A very important concept when we are working on process improvements.
What is the first question you ask as a customer when you order a product or service?
It’s “How long it will take?”
If a business cannot answer this question and deliver on promised time this leads to a dissatisfied customer, one thing businesses cannot afford in this age.
Businesses are moving away from the waterfall model to the agile ones.
Agile and waterfall are two distinctive Process methodologies to complete projects or work items.
Agile is an iterative methodology that incorporates a cyclic and collaborative process.
The waterfall is a sequential methodology that can also be collaborative, but tasks are generally handled in a more linear process.
A big challenge for any business today is to be agile and deliver products and services when and where required by the customer.
In lean terms, it’s called Just-in-Time and creating a Pull System.
When we talk about the Pull system – Cycle Time is a very important concept.
In this video I will be discussing Cycle time and how to use this concept with an easy tool i.e cycle time flowchart or process cycle time analysis.
Because if we have to improve or speed up any process we need to have concrete knowledge of time a process and its sub-processes take.
Would appreciate your views and inputs, and ways you use to improve the cycle time of your processes.
